BRAULIO CARRILLO

Braulio Carrillo hiking tour early in the morning, we'll go through the Braulio Carrillo National Park, a zone of deep canyon and thick primary forest, rivers, inactive volcanoes, cloud and rain forest, this park main characteristic is its unusual richness of flora and fauna, as a result of rainfall variation (2500-8000 mm/yearly), temperature (9-25 oC) and elevation (200-2906 over sea level), in this vast forest we can find up to 6000 species of plants, 350 species of birds.

 

CAFE BRITT TOUR

The coffee tour is a multimedia presentation using actors to describe coffee production from the farming of the trees to the beverage we all know, the tour begins in an actual coffee plantation, where visitors learn the history and processing of coffee, the audience is invited to the roasting facility to see the final stages of coffee preparation prior to packaging for home consumption, visitors participate in a coffee cupping (tasting session) with experienced coffee cuppers, this session enables the audience to better understand the different qualities that make a good cup of coffee.

 

SAN LORENZO CANOPY TOUR
Dificulty:   

We will start our great adventure on the top of the trees. Once we reach the top of the mountain 11 platforms from 40 meters from the ground and 50 to 160 meters long from tree to tree will be waiting for us. While we are flying up in the trees feeling the ocean breeze the nature will surround us giving us a chance to admire the monkeys and birds, and the ocean views between the forest. Lunch can be included.

COSTA RICA TRADITIONS TOUR

7 am Departure time from downtown San José towards Escazú (25 minutes) on the west part of town and surrounded by the beautiful flora and fauna of Escazú mountains. Upon arrival at the facilities, we will get rubber boots and hiking sticks, to then be transferred by oxcart for a few minutes till the intersection where we will board the bus that will bring us to the beginning spot for the hiking this is a nice 2 hours mellow hike into the mountain next to a crystal clear water river and with outstanding landscapes of both nature and the Central Valley on the background, than the transportation will wait for us to bring us to a traditional sugar mill, where we will explore the rich tradition of processing sugar sweets, this particular mill, the motor force are two ox and will be quite interesting to see the whole process. The next visit will be Gerardo Montoya´s colorful masquerade's garage. Gerardo is the grandson of, one of the developers of the masquerades tradition in the Central Valley. He will have a demo with music and the dance of this characters typical of our town fairs and the tour will end with a truly typical and delicious lunch.
SAN JOSE CITY TOUR

See some of the most important and interesting sights of Costa Rica's capital city. The National Museum once home tothe abolished army. The National Theater, finished in 1897. View the Central Park, drive by La Sabana Metropolitan Park and through the Rohrmoser residential area, home of many embassies accredited in Costa Rica. Make a stop at the handicraft shops of Moravia.
IRAZU/OROSI VALLEY/LANKESTER GARDENS

Early in the morning, we will start on our way to the highest volcano in Costa Rica's mountain range: the Irazu Volcano (11,260 feet above sea level). On the way we will visit Cartago, the former capital of Costa Rica. There we will see the Basilica de los Angeles, home of Costa Rica's matron saint, Nuestra Señora de Los Angeles. On a clear day, and standing above the crater, it is possible to see both the Atlantic and the Pacific Oceans. On the way down from the volcano we will visit the Orosi Valley, where the mighty Reventazon River flows and the Bride's Veil Waterfall can be seen as the water rushes 100 Mts. to the floor of the valley. Also we will visit Lankester Gardens, where bromeliads, orchids and other species are maintained and reproduced. It has over 800 species of orchids that bloom all year around, especially during November - June.

LA PAZ WATERFALL

Departure to La Paz Waterfall Gardens, our duration 2h driving time 1h 30m from San José, with 70 acres of wildlife and forest to explore, waterfall gardens allows visitors wonder through 3.5 kilometers of paved trails which take you above, below and right next to five awesome waterfalls and the biggest butterfly farm.
LA PAZ WATERFALL, SARAPIQUI RIVER & BRAULIO CARRILLO

Drive off to la Paz waterfall with 70 acres of wildlife and forest to explore, waterfall gardens allows visitors wonder through 3.5 kilometers of paved trails which take you above, below and right next to five awesome waterfalls and the biggest butterfly farm. Then continue on to the free-flowing river has its origins in clear mountain streams, and remains one of Costa Rica\'s purest river experiences. The narrow, low-volume Sarapiquí winds and stretches its way through thick and colorful vegetation that is home to hummingbirds, toucans, woodpeckers, and scores of other native tropical bird species. Excellent for bird-watchers and other nature lovers, this rafting journey offers moderately flowing rapids that are intersperse with quiet stretches in a magnificent forest setting. After this experience we\'ll get back to San Jose through the Braulio Carrillo National Park.
POAS VOLCANO & SARCHI

Early in the morning we will visit the Poás Volcano, which, though not as high as Irazú, is an impressive sight with its crater, 300 mts. deep and 1500 Mts. wide, usually active with smoke discharges. A trail leads to a crystal blue lagoon, amidst tropical ferns and forest filled with exotic flowers and brilliantly plumed birds. On the way back we will visit Sarchí, it has been the center of production for the colorful oxcart that graced Costa Rican fields, here you will be able to see artisans at work and purchase gorgeous hand-carved articles.

AERIAL TRAM - BRAUILIO CARILLO

This tour gives you a more intimate view of the Rain Forest. This open vehicle takes you through the canopy, skimming over hilltops, into the depths of Costa Rica jungle. First you take a short bus ride from San José to the Continental Divide and then view the natural beauty of Braulio Carrillo National Park. A short distance further and the Tram takes you through layers of vines and branches along the animal highway in this private forest. After 45 minutes you arrive at the end station and disembark for a walk along the forest floor.

EL TRONCO RAIN FOREST
